Environmental Context

The Sado Estuary is one of the most important wetlands in Portugal. Its symbol is the Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncates), which can be easily seen from the crossing ferries. Its wetlands are a listed sanctuary of international importance with a world-class bird-watching list which includes more than 250 species.
